Sickness

Professors, who are sick and cannot come to work, are obliged to inform their institute by phone. In case the incapacity to work caused by sickness or an accident takes longer than seven calendar days, a medical certificate indicating the start and the presumable duration of the incapacity to work must be submitted to the institute on the eighth day at the latest. If the incapacity to work takes longer than the period indicated in the medical certificate, the institute must be informed again by phone and another medical certificate must be submitted.

In the case of sickness, professors with a civil servant status continue to receive their salaries.

In case non-tariff professors are not able to work due to sickness without their fault, salary payment will be continued for up to six weeks. After this period, they will receive a fixed-term sickness allowance for the period, during which they are paid sickness benefit or the corresponding statutory benefits.
