Quality Management for Studies and Teaching
The Quality Management department of the Executive Office and Strategy Business Unit (STS-QM) is responsible for the core elements of central quality management. It is important for us to take into account the perspectives of all stakeholders involved. The quality management concept follows the app roach of the mission statement for studies and teaching at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
The core elements of quality management include the following points:
- System Accreditation of KIT and KIT-PLUS (internal accreditation procedure)
- Course Evaluation and Student Surveys at KIT
System Accreditation of KIT and KIT-PLUS (internal accreditation procedure)
KIT has been system-accredited since 2014. The reaccreditation was pronounced to September 2028. In a system accreditation, the internal quality management system for studies and teaching of a university is reviewed by an external accreditation agency. The individual study programs are then assessed by the quality management system, in the so-called KIT-PLUS procedure.
Course Evaluation and Student Surveys at KIT
Course evaluation, or teaching evaluation, is a component of quality management for studying and teaching at KIT. It enables students to give anonymous feedback on a course. Teachers thus receive qualified, anonymous feedback on important aspects of course quality in a timely manner. Through this feedback, teachers can identify potential(s) for improvement, derive measures and provide feedback to students. The whole process is embedded in a cycle of continuous development. The basis for this is the "Evaluation Regulations for Teaching, Studies and Continuing Education and the Supporting Services of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)" (German language).
KIT quality management accompanies students throughout the entire student lifecycle with surveys on various topics. Thus, students have the opportunity to actively participate in shaping the studies at KIT and can periodically communicate their needs and wishes. An overview of all surveys in the area of studies and teaching can be found here. You can view the detailed reports via the QM Report SharePoint (only accessible in the KIT network).
