Are you interested in implementing a PLR?

You can easily carry out a participatory teaching dialogue using reference groups in three steps.
Please note:

Currently, lecturers of the following KIT faculties can participate in the pilot project: Civil Engineering, Geo- and Environmental Sciences, Chemistry and Biosciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Physics as well as Economics and Management.

Step 1:

Please contact survey∂kit.edu with the following information:

  • Name of the course
  • Name e-mail address of the instructor
  • Names and e-mail addresses of the students who are to form the reference group
  • KIT faculty that offers the course

Step 2:

The project coordinator then contacts all parties involved and obtains everyone's agreement.

Step 3:

A short mandatory workshop for the Reference Group members will take place. The meeting is arranged the project coordination. There is a separate briefing for the instructor if desired.

Reference Group - Your tasks during the course:

  • You will be in regular contact with your fellow students and the instructor during the course.
  • At the end of the course you will have a joint feedback discussion with the instructor.
  • At the end of the course you will take part in a short evaluation of the PLR process.

Instructor - Your responsibilities during the course:

  • You are in regular contact with the members of the Reference Group during the course.
  • You conduct a short teaching evaluation (LQI questions)
  • You will take part in a short evaluation of the PLR procedure at the end of the course.

What do I, as a student, get out of being involved in a PLR?

Besides the chance to contribute to a better teaching and learning culture at KIT, after full participation there is the possibility to

  • receive a certificate of participation or
  • obtain a credit point in the interdisciplinary area by writing a reflection report after the end of the course.
